Big top but no bottom

○○○●●

ROLL up, roll up - the irrepressible Irrepressibles are about to put on a show.
Formed in 2002 by singer songwriter Jamie McDermott, the 10-piece orchestra are still to release a debut LP - although one is finally due in 2009.
Instead the group focus on using their lush classical-influenced experimental improvisation art as the backdrop to physical performance art.
In fact this release, From The Circus To The Sea, is merely an audio CD attached to a DVD from filmmaker Shelley Love.
A bold, otherworldy collection of tracks, led by McDermott's soaring Jeff Buckley-meets-Rufus Wainwright voice, at times The Irrepresibles are irresistable, while others it fades into the backdrop, supposedly as it should with the images to match.
The full LP should be something worth checking out next year, but at the moment make sure you get the full picture.
