FORMER 9 Lazy 9 member Funki Porcini's new album On isn't a complete turn-off, but it is a little disappointing. The album opening of the not-so-hilarious musical joke Moog River followed the excellent jazzy downbeat beats of This Aint The Way To Live is a microcosm of On. Because when Funki Porcini, real name James Braddell, is on it, he's simply awesome, lounging with the best of them. It just needed someone to see off the not so thrilling moments - such as Robert Crumb's Natural Gait - before the album was finished.
This blog aims to link people to music, and I will try to update it as regularly as possible - daily if I can. If you have any questions about the blog, would like to make comments and suggestions or would like to link to this page, feel free to e-mail me, comment on a post or join the forum Sound Off. Without readers' input - or indeed readers - this blog is just a pointless exercise in getting promo CDs sent out to me, so get in touch. I can't be right about everything all of the time - if you disagree with me, please let me know.
Everyone makes mistakes - but as a fully-trained, professional journalist I'd like to think I don't make many. But if I do, I'd like them to be corrected as soon as possible. So if you spot any typos or inaccuracies in any of my posts, please leave me a comment, as smug as you like, underneath the offending post, and I'll sort it out. Plus, if you're a resident of the UK and you e-mail me to let me know at Isaac_Ashe@MRN.co.uk, I'll post you out a promo CD or two to say "thanks". Terms and conditions apply.
To join the ranks, just e-mail Isaac_Ashe@MRN.co.uk with the subject header "I Want In" and I will add you to the official Isaac Ashe's Sound Advice list. You will then be first to know when Isaac Ashe's Sound Advice is doing anything a little bit different - freebies, surveys, competitions, anything else out of the ordinary.
