Wavey Davey

SINGER songwriter Cathy Davey could be Ireland's answer to PJ Harvey.
However, at other points on this, her sophomore album, the follow-up to 2004's Something Ilk, the Dublin songstress sounds like Ireland's answer to Katie Melua.
Blessed with a voice equal parts cutesy and sultry, Tales Of Silversleeve soars on tracks like Collector and Reuben, and you can see at these highs how Davey picked up the Meteor Award - Ireland's answer to the Mercury Music Prize - and a nominee for an Irish Choice Award - Ireland's answer to the Brits.
However whether or not the album's patchiness ruins the LP overall is the question...
