Longcut, only cut up

○○○○●

AFTER last year's Open Hearts, which hinted at a love of electronic music fluttering beneath the full-on rock of Longcut, a slew of guests indulge this passion on their Broken Hearts EP.
Remixes come courtesy of the likes of The Earlies, Toro Y Moi, Outputmessage and Borland - and when they say broken, they mean it.
This collection is a real departure from the group's heart-on-sleeve rock, instead trying out a selection of hazy chillout, bass-heavy dub and bassy electro reworkings.
Broken Hearts may beat to a different, unexpected rhythm - even from track to track - but there's as much to love here as with their studio efforts.
