A Camp doesn't rock

○○●●●

NINA Persson of The Cardigans is back with intent, in the form of her side project A Camp.
The sideline's second LP, following an eponymous effort in 2001, Colonia is a complete vacation from the ice-cool pop of her day job.
Instead this is a collection of ponderous, ornate chamber pop nuggets, with some delightful moments - such as Here Are Many Wild Animals.
However the album lacks that instant gratification that marks Persson's Cardigans work, and as a result this album really drags.
I'm sure it's a refreshing break for her - but as a listener, I just hope that A Camp isn't a permanent home for the Scandanavian singer.
