COMPOSER Nathan Riki Thomson's Under Ubi's Tree is a breath of fresh air in musical form.
Influenced heavily by traditional African music, the album seamlessly fuses influences from jazz to roots to classical to funk to flamenco and much, much more.
However the airy debut album, pleasant as it is, comes across as a bit lightweight overall, and tends to slip into the realm of being mere ambience if you're otherwise engaged.
But don't that put you off - why don't you log on to his site, have a listen, and Ubi the judge?
