BLACK Mold's approach to new album
Snow Blindness Is Crystal Antz is to have lots of different approaches.
The schizophrenic electro LP jumps from the broken Nintendo Gameboy sounds of
Rotten Walls to the minimalism of
Dr Snouth to the calming
Wet Ferns to the knocking beats of
Pristine Boobles like a dying fish on a dancefloor.
There's some excellent moments crafted by Black Mold, real name Chad VanGaalen, but the scattergun approach means that these gems come across like moments of lucidity in the ravings of a madman.
Or, if analogies are your thing, like good reviews on a two-bit music blog thrown together by one person who doesn't have enough time and still has to fit in a listen of a
Whitney Houston album.
